1 can (~400g) black beans (or other beans), drained and rinsed
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon minced garlic (Jarred)
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/3 cup water
Put all ingredients into a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat.
Let the mixture come to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring often, and reducing heat as necessary to maintain a gentle simmer.
Remove from heat and mash the beans with a potato masher, or fork until mixture is thick and spreadable.
